‘Brian and Charles’ Director Jim Archer on Profound, Rebellious Robots (feat. Jim Archer)
Episode 214

First director interview in a minute! Today we’re talking to Jim Archer, who’s made a new comedy called “Brian and Charles” about a kooky inventor (David Earl’s Brian) who builds a 7-foot-tall robot (Chris Hayward’s Charles) anxious to learn all it can about this world of ours. Jim discusses some of the film’s documentary inspirations, shopping for mannequin heads and how to direct an actor who’s inside a box. “Brian and Charles” is in theaters now, from Focus Features.

Each time out, we select three movies based around a genre and call up guests ranging from submarine captains to Oscar winners. Then, we rate the movies, weighing both technical quality and entertainment.
Noah and Chance are old friends who mostly respect each other’s opinions. Even though Chance is a fool and a traitor. Find their show presented at ThePlaylist.Net and follow them on Twitter for the latest on Noah’s literary agenting and Chance’s work in the Portland arts scene.
